| As promised long ago, I have begun to add my old student films to the site. After Images and The Distant Sound of Trains are now online. Each is accompanied by a free description! As an added bonus neither of them is about Suicide. | |
Yes, I am working on something. It is a film that "must be seen to be believed," according to the Wall Street Journal. The Chicago Sun Times says, "WTF, Why didn't I know about this sooner?" Marco says, "Tory Z Starbuck is the man I've been trying to be for 45 years!" The Video section has some live performances from the final film. More excerpts coming soon.
The phenomenon of self-injury among certain demographics is considered by some to be an epidemic. While accurate representations of the numbers of people who engage in this practice are nearly impossible, some estimates show that between two and four million Americans cut or otherwise habitually inflict injury upon their own bodies. The majority of these cases are found in young women between 13 and 30 years old. For a time this film was my passion until I realized that there were several logistical and monetary issues that went along with making this film that I was not ready to deal with yet. I hope I can finish this film before I die. Check out more here.
